What This Means in Plain Language
Some pages on this site — primarily within The TDM Edit — contain links to products on external retailer websites. When you click one of those links and make a purchase, TDM Travel may receive a small commission from the retailer. The price you pay is exactly the same whether or not you use our link.
This is how affiliate marketing works, and we are required by the FTC to disclose it clearly. We take that requirement seriously.
How It Affects Our Recommendations
It doesn't. Our editorial process begins with firsthand use. We test products on actual trips, under real conditions. We write what we observe — including the drawbacks. A product that performs well earns a place in The TDM Edit. A product that doesn't, doesn't — regardless of whether an affiliate relationship is available.
We will not recommend something because it pays a higher commission. We will not soften a criticism because a brand reached out. The TDM Edit exists because our clients trust our judgment, and that trust is worth more than any commission.
Affiliate Networks We Use
We work with established affiliate networks including Awin and CJ Affiliate. These networks facilitate the tracking and payment of commissions between retailers and publishers like TDM Travel. We do not share your personal data with these networks beyond what is standard for link tracking.
Material Relationships and Product Sourcing
If a product we review was gifted, loaned, discounted or provided through any material relationship with a brand, we will say so explicitly near the beginning of that review — not only in a footer or disclosure page.
If we purchased a product ourselves at full price, we will say that too. You should always know the basis on which we encountered something before you read our opinion of it.
Inactive and Placeholder Links
In some cases, a product review may exist on this site before an affiliate link is available. In those instances, we will clearly mark the button as inactive and will not direct you to any external retailer until a verified affiliate link is in place. We do not use redirect links, cloaked URLs or other methods designed to obscure the destination of a link.
